19.2.4 denial of SerVice (doS) attackS
We consider any type of intentional activity that can disrupt, subvert, or even destroy the network
as a denial of service (DoS) attack.
Basically, DoS attacks can be categorized into three types:
• Consumption of scarce, limited, or non-renewable resources
• Destruction or alteration of conguration information
• Physical destruction or alteration of network resources
These types of DoS attacks are the most signicant for WSNs as the sensors in the network suf-
