About the Author
Nick Furneaux has been working with and programming computers since his parents procured his first computer, a Sinclair ZX81, when he was 12. (At the age of 14 he designed a computer program to convince his teacher that he had gained access to his bank account.)
In the past 20 years, he has provided cybersecurity and forensics consultancy for companies and law enforcement institutions in the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, Canada, Australasia, and Asia and has lectured on the subject to numerous organizations. Nick also has considerable knowledge of covert evidence extraction and covert data systems.
Previously through his company CSITech Ltd. (purchased by TRM Labs in 2022), he has been specifically involved in the prevention and investigation of cyber crime, including a specialization in forensic computer memory analysis and investigation of crimes involving cryptocurrencies. He has been privileged to be able to work with some of the top security researchers and investigators in the world.
In 2018 he published Investigating Cryptocurrencies (Wiley, 2018), which, until this book, was the only book in the world on the subject aimed at investigators. Since 2018, Nick has trained thousands of digital detectives on cryptocurrency investigative techniques, built software tools to assist with investigations, and worked on investigating over $27 billion in cryptocurrency assets.
