Narcissistic Useful Creativity

In 1996, I was twenty-four and excited to be working at a public relations firm in Boston. While my cubicle had a view of the bathroom door, the main conference room had a view of the Charles River from the sixteenth floor. The best part of my job was finding any excuse to work or meet in that conference room. I started working in PR because I enjoyed writing and talking and I wanted to be a part of a creative environment. Staring at the sailboats that glided between Cambridge and Boston met more of those creative needs, I suppose, than calling reporters to make sure they received the press release I just faxed them.
