Error/Fault or Function Codes
Over the years, appliance manufacturers have incorporated fault codes, diagnostic and test information, and appliance usage information into their appliances. All appliances with electronic displays and electronic components have fault codes programmed into the microprocessor on the main printed circuit board. These codes act as a service aid and starting point for the technician when diagnosing a fault with the appliance. An error/fault code will appear on the display when the appliance encounters some type of error detection. This can be in the form of a series of blinking lights or an actual alphanumeric code.
