CHAPTER 6

Productivity: How Do You Get Work Done?

Techniques for maximizing productivity are discipline, delegation, and energy. The discipline of using your secret advantage means taking the first small step, every time, every day, and taking many steps will begin to create positive energy. For appropriate delegation, use the Great DANE model: Delegate, Automate, Negotiate, and Eliminate. To enhance your delegation ability, delegate a job to someone who has the strengths to do the task; empower others to ask for what task they want rather than telling them and overcommunicating. Also, learn to say no, which will change the cycle of the external world's expectation of you. Finally, for successful delegation, break the habit of doing what others deem you should do. Manage your physical energy, not your time, to give you a positive return on your energy expenditure. Learn to exert then recover. In summary, discipline, delegation, and managing your energy are the key to maximizing your Inner Leader's productivity.
