Appendix C. VoiceXML 2.0
VoiceXML 1.0 is a specification of the VoiceXML Forum. A new version of VoiceXML, commonly referred to as VoiceXML 2.0, is under development by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Voice Browser Working Group. VoiceXML 2.0 is currently in the working draft phase and is not available to the public.
VoiceXML 2.0 does not include the VoiceXML 1.0 functionalities related to grammars and speech markup. What is referred to as VoiceXML 2.0 will include:
• VoiceXML 2.0—The voice browser component
• Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML)—Functionality that provides synthetic speech markup
• Speech Recognition Grammar Specification (SRGS)—Defines the syntax for representing speech recognition grammars
