Setting a vision is the most fundamental thing a leader will do. Some would argue that it's the only important thing a leader will ever do, because it's up to the leader to decide where the organisation or group should be going, and up to everyone else to get them there. A destination or an outcome is vital to any group, whether it is a short-term or a long-term plan. Without a vision, there is simply no leadership, because if you don't know where you want to go, how can you expect anyone to follow?
