There are always many people for an author to thank at the time of publication of a book, but this time there are perhaps more people to thank, in more ways than usual.

I’d like to begin with my colleagues at the Martin Prosperity Institute. We set out on this journey together on July 1, 2013, with the inception of our project on the future of democratic capitalism, and wound it up on June 30, 2019, when MPI closed its doors.
