You’ve probably worked with words in the past, typing emails, homework assignments, and such. But not everyone has experience in creating and saving longer text documents. In this chapter, you learn the skills needed for working with longer text documents.
Getting Started with Notepad
Windows 11 comes with the Notepad text editor. Unlike some more complex word-processing apps, Notepad is simple to use. However, the skills you learn here can be applied to typing in any writing app, from other text editors to word-processing apps such as Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
Opening Notepad
To open Notepad, click the start icon. If you see Notepad on the Start menu, click its icon. Otherwise, click the All Apps button or type notepad in the Search box; when you see the Notepad app, click it.
