35 SOME FINAL THOUGHTS

In talking to the many successful people that contributed to this book, I came to realize that many offered the same solid advice, which I think is worth summing up: work hard, write, get your foot in the door any way you can, write, have a unique voice, be original, write, have a good attitude, be passionate about your work, and write. Nearly all of them believe that television needs to reinvented and that change will only come through fresh, new, pioneering voices. I echo the challenges these writers, producers, and executives have consistently put before you: when it comes to TV writing, be a revolutionist, not a copycat. Come to the table with something to say. Have the courage to be who you are and say it.
