You might have heard public key infrastructures (PKI) being called the next Holy Grail in identification and authentication of users. PKI leverages the technologies of public key cryptography (see the sidebar “What Is Public Key Cryptography ?”) to allow users to authenticate and exchange data in a secure manner.
