User Responsibilities

Chapter 6, “Internet Security Policies,” included a section within the Internet Policy that outlined user responsibilities. These policies are intended to be a code of conduct for those using the Internet connection. We include a separate section for Internet users to recognize the growing importance of the Internet as a resource and the special nature of communications caused by its openness.

When writing the AUP, you should consider including policies that are unique to using the Internet and not items included in the general systems and network policy. Remember, our goal is to keep the AUP short and to the point. To do this you should try not to repeat policy statements.
