9.4.1.2 Downward Information Flow In the downward information
flow, flow of information from the higher layer to the lower layer pro-
tocol at runtime results in the creation of a new SAP from higher to
lower layer, as shown in Figure. 9.3(b). Here, the purpose is to provide
hints to the lower layers about how the higher layer data processed.
9.4.1.3 Back and Forth Information Flow Here, two layers are involved
at the same time to perform different tasks. At runtime this is an iter-
ative loop between the two layers, with the information flowing back
and forth, as shown in Figure9.3(c). Because of the complementary
new interfaces, this clearly violates the layered architecture.
