It was actually possible to work with other versions of Windows without ever touching the registry directly—at least it was for the average user. Even administrators rarely touched the registry and did so with the proper regard for its delicacy. Working with Server Core means not having access through the Graphical User Interface (GUI) to many features that you had in the past. Now you must perform certain tasks from the client through consoles, using the Remote Desktop, through shares, and even using the registry directly.
