Chapter 7. Editing and Compiling Batch Files and Scripts

Any full automation effort at the command line will likely require batch files and scripts. You can use any technique that you want to write the batch file or script. For example, you can use the simple command Copy CON: C:MyBatch.BAT and press Enter to start an editing session right there at the command prompt. The "Modifying Data Files with the Edit Utility" section of Chapter 5 demonstrates how you can use the Edit utility to perform batch and script file editing as well. If the batch file is small and simple enough, either of these environments may be all that you need.
