Optical Soliton Transmission System
Optical solitons have drawn considerable attention because of its fundamental nature as well as its potential applications for optical fiber communications systems operating at ultra-high bit rates and over extremely long distances. They are analyzed and discussed in this chapter.
The fundamental and higher-order solitons are simulated by employing the numerical approach using the beam propagation method (BPM) and the analytical approach using inverse scattering method (ISM) to solve the basic nonlinear propagation equation, also known as the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE).
