7.8. Stage 8

7.8.1. Integrating an HTML page

The phare.mov file must be linked to an HTML page so it can be viewed by a browser. You have to indicate the name of the QuickTime file to be viewed in these two lines between the <object> and <embed> tags.

<param name="src" value="phare.mov">
 et <embed src="phare.mov".

For most browsers to read the files correctly, you must use both the <object> and the <embed> tags, even though the movie title is included within the first tag. In running local tests remember to use the same values in each tag, even if the code works when only one of them is correct.

The code below lets you display the QuickTime file in a size that is independent of the one generated by CubicConverter. This is due to the values entered after the width and height code, and the related action of the "tofit," which controls the image's scale.

<html>
<head>
<title>Phare des Baleines</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
</head>
<body bgcolor="#222222">

<object classid="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B"  width="700"
height="500" codebase="http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab">
       <param name="src" value="phare.mov">
       <param name="controller" value="true">
       <param name="scale" value="tofit">

       <embed  src="phare.mov"  width="700"  height="500"  controller="true"
scale="tofit" type="video/quicktime"
pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/">
       </embed>
</object>

</body>
