6. Importing Meshes and Textures

Let’s export the mesh from Autodesk 3ds Max and import it into Unreal Engine. First, open the 3ds Max scene with the mesh ready to export. Select Export from the File menu, and choose a location and name to save the FBX file. The FBX export options pop up to set the following settings because you are exporting a Static Mesh.

    Expand the Geometry category and enable Smoothing Groups.

    Expand the Animation, Cameras, and Lights categories and disable them.

    (Optional) Disable Embed Media. You can include the textures inside the FBX file by enabling the Embed Media ...
