4.1 Introduction

IoT has revolutionized the world with its versatility, ubiquity, and fast expansion. Researchers estimate that the next few years will witness such a rapid escalation of the technology in the coming years that the number of IoT end nodes or devices will be more than the global population. The application areas of IoT are numerous like healthcare, environmental monitoring, home automation, smart transportation, agriculture, etc. As the sensors can efficiently gather and transmit data and have the ability to be deployed anywhere, the sensor‐enabled IoT nodes or devices can be used for purposes like smart meters for home, garbage collection, remote weather stations, alert for the farmers to milk their cows, and the list of applications is limitless. With the emergence of the concept of smart cities, IoT has been considered to be one of the best solutions for industrial as well as commercial purposes. The different nature of technology has enabled the usability of the sensors in a diverse environment in every part of the world. It has succeeded in enhancing the comforts of its users.
