14.1 Introduction
IoT and big data make the two sides of the same coin as they only feed into the success of each other. Their development is exponentially increasing and has an effect on all categories of business and technologies. As they provide huge benefits on both organizational and individual levels, the two are being studied immensely. The organizations take advantage of huge quantities of data that are generated by IoT devices by analyzing them and offering personalized solutions to various problems [1]. Therefore, IoT big data analytics tries to help business organizations to understand the data in a better manner so that they can make better decisions. Big data analytics help in:
- Analyzing large quantities of unstructured data that cannot be harnessed by using old existing tools [2].
- Using data mining techniques to dig out the useful information from the available data [3] so that companies can benefit from it.
Huge numbers of sensors are deployed that vary in nature as well as type and hence IoT data is very different from the normal big data obtained through various systems [4].
