All of us have at some point come across the word "modem." For some, it might just be a gadget that in some way helps to connect to the Internet. Though partly true, this definition is far too sketchy as compared to its capabilities. So, what is a modem? A modem—short for modulator-demodulator—is an electronic device that provides a communication interface, connecting your home network to the Internet through an Internet service provider. It encodes and decodes digital information that is sent and received, thus reproducing the original data.
