When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
I am unusual for a person of my age in that I have never learned to drive a car. I haven’t got a licence. (It’s a long story.) I recently decided that I wanted to learn about modern computer programming, which I hadn’t done in anger for about 20 years. I picked up a book about the Python language, and began working my way through it. (Don’t ask how far I got before I got distracted.) But, for both driving and programming in Python, I know what the skill is, I understand its scope, I knew I didn’t know it, and I knew what it took to learn it, and how to learn it.
