Hammering out a final deal with the buyer of your home involves several elements. Yes, price will be the first thing on your mind, but pay attention to other key details, such as the possession date, conditional clauses and their expiry dates, the extras you’ll include in the sale (chattels like your washer and dryer), and the amount of the buyer’s cash deposit (we discuss all of these items in Chapter 17). Everything is negotiable, so have a clear idea of what is most important to you and be flexible in everything else. This chapter gives you some tips to help the negotiating process.
