As standard practice, microservices are designed and decomposed based on business capability or business domain. Business domain decomposition follows a Domain-Driven Design (DDD) pattern, where each service is developed to provide specific functionality of the business domain. This contrasts with a layered architecture approach, in which the application is divided into multiple layers, where each layer is dependent on another layer and has tight dependencies on it, and removing any layer breaks the whole application.
