The journey from Guangzhou to Shenzhen by train was absolutely routine. It was worth doing to follow locals’ recommendations to travel by train instead of bus. Trains are comfortable and the landscapes we see are amazing; plenty of wetlands, vegetation and rice fields. The landscape changes as we leave Guangzhou behind, and becomes much more urban, although it keeps its Southern touch with luxuriant tropical vegetation. Here there are western-inspired houses to be seen, and hills and mountains appear as we approach Shenzhen. Around twenty minutes before arriving in this city, the train suddenly fills up.
