The train to Nanjing leaves from the Shanghai Railway Station, located in Zhabei, in the north of the city. It is the largest railway station in Shanghai. The train travels at an average of 200 km/h, which is the highest speed permitted for which Chinese high-speed trains are designed. It is said that the Shanghai-Nanjing railway is the most travelled railway in the world. The train is comfortable but the inside temperature is so low that at the end of a two-hour journey, travellers feel as if they had just emerged from hibernation.
