I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

A while ago I read an article entitled “The Growing Importance of Sustaining Software for the DoD”1 on Doug Schmidt’s blog. Doug made the following claim:
“Although software does not wear out, firmware and hardware become obsolete, thereby requiring software modifications.”
It was a clarifying moment for me. Doug mentioned two terms that I would have thought to be obvious—but maybe not. Software is this thing that can have a long useful life, but firmware will become obsolete as hardware evolves.
