Transistor sizing affects the performance characteristics (speed, power consumption, chip area, etc.) of integrated circuits. It is an iterative process that is generally achieved using SPICE-based simulation tools. Because the design parameters such as transistor sizes and bias currents depend on the performance metrics that are nonlinear functions, their optimal values may be derived only using computation-intensive programs.
