The relationship between the bank and the customer
INTRODUCTION
The focus of this chapter will be on lending to business customers that are small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with also a brief examination of micro-enterprises, mid-sized businesses, and corporates (PLCs).
SMEs will be specifically defined and their importance to commercial banks and the UK economy will also be explored.
Banks have rights and duties as do their customers and the legal basis for these specific rights and duties for both parties will be discussed in detail.
