Set Column Widths
When you create a worksheet, Excel automatically sets a default width for columns. The width of columns in the Windows version of Excel is 8.43 characters (or 64 pixels). The width of columns in the Mac OS version of Excel is 10 characters (or 1.04 inches).
We've already used the AutoFit feature to increase the width of column A so its text fits in the column. And, if you use the Windows version of Excel, you may have noticed that it widened one or two columns to accommodate the number formatting we applied.
