It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 1 Understanding Cybercrime and Digital Deviance
Introduction
In this chapter, we introduce some core ideas and concepts that form the foundation for chapters to come. Most fundamentally, we define what we mean by cybercrime and digital deviance. Our definitions and explanations for these two phenomena are common across sociological and criminological texts. Next, we introduce the student to the notion of a “digital environment” and the layered technologies that produce that environment. We suspect the idea of layering will be unique to individuals not familiar with core ideas in the fields of computer science or computer-related disciplines.
