Cyberpornography, as defined by Wall, is “the publication or trading of sexually expressive (explicit) materials in the digital environment” (Wall, 2001, p. 6). We will extend Wall’s definition in two ways.
First, we extend cyberpornography to include communication about sexual behaviors and lifestyles. In particular, we are interested in online communities that may be considered sexually deviant by large segments of Western society. Second, we place forms of sex work that occur or are facilitated in the digital environment in the category of cyberpornography.
