Writing a book has always been a goal of mine, and I've been working on this book's concepts for the better part of fifteen years. Along the way, many people have helped shaped what this book became.
First and foremost were my parents. I was fortunate to have one of the first personal computers on the market because my father worked for Sperry Univac. Having this device in our home helped cultivate a love of technology in me. I want to thank my parents for giving me that gift and always encouraging me to learn and do more. They have always been my biggest supporters and fans.
I also would not have been able to write this book if I hadn't developed the confidence in myself over my youth and adult years. As a girl, I was a member of the Girl Scouts. The organization instilled the confidence in me that I truly believe has been foundational for me as an adult. I'm thankful for all that this organization gave me then, and still gives me today as a leader, trainer, and lifetime member. It excites me that now this great organization also teaches girls about technology and data – and that this next generation of young women will have that foundation as they enter adulthood and their chosen professions.
