This chapter studies the main types of nonparametric tests and identifies in which situations they must be applied. Nonparametric tests are an alternative to parametric ones when their hypotheses are violated or in cases in which the variables are qualitative. The main differences between parametric and nonparametric tests are presented in this chapter, as well as their respective advantages and disadvantages. The assumptions inherent to nonparametric hypotheses tests are also listed here. As a result, it is possible to identify when to use each one of the nonparametric tests.
