9.1 Introduction

Blackjack is an extremely popular casino game, in part because if the correct strategy is used, the house advantage is under 1% (meaning that in the long term, the gambler loses, on average, 1% of the amount he or she bets), and card counting techniques can give the motivated player the ability to swing the advantage even further so that it’s actually possible for the odds to be in your favor. In this project, we develop a set of functions to simulate a game of blackjack, starting simply and working your way up to card counting.
