We, of course, want to thank all of the contributors who provided case studies included in the book. They gave a lot of time and thought in preparing their chapters. This was a long process and they were very patient and understanding.

The initial idea for this book of case studies came from an NSF-funded workshop we led in 2007 to explore the role of computing in the statistics curricula. One of the ideas was to share teaching resources, and this is one outcome of that.
