Communication is possibly the most important but overlooked aspect of design. Ask the average man or woman in the street, “What is the designer's job,” and most of them will answer something along the lines of “They make things look nice” or “They add the decoration.” The majority of people tend to think this way—including a good number of working designers! But they're obviously unaware of the fundamental aspect of design: visual communication.
