Earlier in this chapter, we introduced the Microsoft Certificate Service for Windows
2000 and Windows 2003. Now we’re going to look in-depth at installation and con-
figuration of this system so we can witness the job they do in helping secure a Web
application infrastructure. Despite some people’s opinion of Microsoft, they are an
industry leader in applications, and looking at Certificate Services should provide us
with practical information on how to implement security measures and how to run
the application that provides the security.
