This monograph is about developing capacity for innovation in complex systems. It essentially addresses this through the constructs of strategy, organisation, and leadership. It is argued that capacity building efforts are often ineffective because they are underdeveloped, uncoordinated, and insufficiently purposeful. By adopting a holistic approach, organisations better position themselves for overcoming the uncertainty inherent to innovation approaches. While a holistic innovation approach is not enough to ensure capacity, it is a necessary start.
