2章 Diameterベースプロトコル
本章では、Diameterベースプロトコルについて解説する。Diameterペースプロトコルでは、ピア間の接続および切断、機能ネゴシエーション、メッセージのルーティングおよび送信などに関わる基本的な機能を規定している。
ここでは、Diameterプロトコルを規定するRFC文書に沿う形で、Diameterペースプロトコルおよび、それを定義するために必要な基本情報について解説を行う。本書執筆の時点（2014年11月）で最新のRFC文書は、RFC 6733である。
2.1 Diameterパケットの構造
Diameterパケットは大きく2つの部分から構成されている。一つはプロトコル制御情報を示すヘッダである。もう一つは可変長かつ可変個のAVP部である。図2-1にDiameterパケットの概略図を示す。

2.1.1 ヘッダ
Diameterヘッダは、プロトコルを制御する様々な情報を表す各種フィールドから構成されている。Diameterヘッダの長さは20オクテット固定である。各フィールドはネットワークバイトオーダーで送信される。図2-2にDiameterヘッダの構成図を示す。
