6章 Diameterクレジット制御アプリケーション
本章では、クレジット制御機能を実現するDiameterアプリケーションについて解説する。
このアプリケーションは、通信量やアカウントの残高（料金の残高など）をリアルタイムに制御したい場合に利用できる。
例えば、オンライン課金システムでこのアプリケーションを使用することが考えられる。課金の方式は大きくオフライン課金方式と、オンライン課金方式に分けることができる。
オフライン課金方式は、月次等でまとめて請求金額を集計して課金する方式で「3章 Diameterベースアカウンティングアプリケーション」で解説したDiameterベースアカウンティングアプリケーションや「4章 Diameter NASアプリケーション」で解説したDiameter NASアプリケーションを使用しても実現できる。
しかし、オンライン課金方式では、以下の処理をリアルタイムに行う必要がある。
- （1） サービスの提供前および提供中にアカウントの残高を確認し、サービスが提供可能か判断する。
- （2） 残高不足が発生した場合に、サービスを制限（帯域の制限等）したり、追加でサービスを購入できるようにする。
このような機能を持たないDiameterベースアカウンティングアプリケーションやDiameter NASアプリケーションではオンライン課金システムは実現できないため、Diameterクレジット制御アプリケーションが必要となる。
