You can’t know where you are headed unless you know where you are!
I use this sailing metaphor often because you can’t know where you are going or how you are doing over time unless you first conduct a sustainability baseline.
So before you decide to lose a bunch of weight, be sure to step on the scale!
As Peter Drucker so eloquently said:
“What gets measured, gets managed.”
You have to measure your social and environmental impacts so that you can determine the risks and opportunities to your company, then prioritize and take action on the issues most important to the company and its stakeholders.
