There’s a world of real-life auctions beyond the kinds of virtual auctions taking place on eBay. They’re happening in auction houses across the world—some large, some small, some unknown, and some well-known. These auctions take place in the traditional manner: A lot of goods, or individual goods, is put up for auction, and people bid against each other to win the goods. However, they don’t do it over a several-day period, as on eBay. Instead, they do it live and face-to-face.
