付録Cは日本語版オリジナルの記事です。本稿では、Windowsでシェルを利用する方法の1つであるWSL（Windows Subsystem for Linux）について解説します。WSLを利用することにより、本書記載のLinuxコマンドをWindows上で利用できます。また、シェルからPowerShellを利用したり、PowerShellからシェルを利用することもできます。
なお、Windowsでシェルを利用する方法は、WSL以外にもあります。CygwinやGit BashでもWindowsでシェルを利用することができますが、本稿ではUbuntu-22.04とPowerShell 5.1を利用しています。
C.1 Windowsでシェルが利用できると何が便利か？
本書で紹介したとおり、Linuxコマンドは強力で便利ですが、WindowsにはPowerShellを用いないと取得できない情報が存在していたり、また逆にPowerShellだけでは処理しにくい場合があります。そのような場面では、Windowsでシェルを利用することで効率化が図れます。
PowerShellやコマンドプロンプトは、ユーザー権限による実行と管理者権限による実行とが明確に分かれており、それぞれ利用可能な機能が異なります。管理者権限による実行は、シェルのsudoと似た機能となります。本稿ではWindowsイベントログを操作しています。
