When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Anatomy of an analyzer
An analyzer is a package that contains three building blocks: character filters, tokenizers, and token filters. A user can create a custom analyzer by using these or other building blocks to create the functionality needed. Allow me to elaborate more on what these building blocks are:
- Character filters convert text into a stream of characters. They can transform the stream by adding, removing, or changing the format of the characters. For example, a character filer can change the & character to the word and. An analyzer may have no character filters, or many, but they are always applied in order.
- Tokenizers receive the stream of characters and break it down into tokens. The output will then be a stream of tokens. For ...
