5.1  Circuit Diagram

Circuits are often represented in a simplified manner by means of a circuit diagram, also called an electronic schematic. One possible approach is a pictorial representation of the circuit components to a given degree of realism. Figure 2-3, in Chapter 2, is an example of a pictorial, or quasi-pictorial, circuit representation. Pictorial circuit representations have some application in tutorials and education but are not very useful to the circuit designer. Block diagrams are another simplification in which components are abstracted into a box that may show some connections but is lacking most electronic details.
