  • The Production phase is composed of the activities executed when release of a system is deployed.

  • Systems must be operated and supported after they are deployed. This includes ensuring that they are up and running, that data is backed up and restored as necessary, and that user questions and error reports are addressed.

  • Defect fixes and collections of fixes are developed and applied to deployed systems in a production environment.

  • Operations and support efforts need to be managed according to business needs.
