We all take for granted that our USB devices will work with our computers, but the number of different devices that need to be tested is very large and growing, and it was difficult to automate such actions as unplugging a device. However, a simulation framework was developed that has enabled much of this testing to be automated in a way that has found widespread use inside and outside of Microsoft. The chapter includes numerous examples showing both the problems encountered and the solutions implemented.
