Summary

As mentioned, this is not even close to a full-fledged tutorial on the XPath language, but I hope it has served you by illustrating the types of queries that are possible with this powerful language. In fact, I've covered just the very tip of what can be done with XPath, as this language supports a host of built-in functions and capabilities. If you're interested in learning more about XPath, I would suggest Erik Westermann's Learn XML in a Weekend (Cincinnati, OH: Premier Press, 2002), which has a great chapter on the XPath language.
