In this chapter, you’ll work with Multidimensional Expressions (MDX), which is the native query language for SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). MDX is a SQL-like language used to query SSAS cubes.
Although there will be situations that will require that you write MDX expressions or queries from scratch, the design of the BIDS interface really minimizes your need to author much of the MDX that you’ll need for your BI projects.
